Stop a Breakout Dead in it's Tracks

Stop a Breakout Dead in it’s Tracks

In this hot weather, those with oily skin, acne and acne prone skin may look forward to the weather but not to the trouble it brings to the skin. Breakouts are extremely common in the summer so when you’ve been blessed by the acne fairy, the best thing to do is to be patient and try to stop it from getting worse. The best thing to do is to do a steam treatment for the face. The steam opens up the pores in the face so the gunk and grime can be excreted. This happens with water alone so what would happen if you were to add some other stuff to the water? Essential oils are the best thing to use as they’re very pure. 2 drops of the oil is enough to add to the water and you should use one, two or even all of the following: chamomile, tea tree, lavender and lemon. Their antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties are perfect in combating breakouts. I remember putting all of these essential oils in the water I was steaming with and the next morning there was a huuuugggeee difference!

Once you’ve got the steaming down, pat your face then apply yoghurt to your face. Yoghurt contains lactic acid which is in many expensive facials, treatments and creams. Lactic acid will remove the unwanted and dead skin and will brighten your face up. It’s sensitive enough for people to use everyday and I know people that do and their complexions are a lot better than when they didn’t use yoghurt. Leave the yoghurt on for ten minutes.

Wash off the yoghurt with cold water, it’s important that you do as you previously steamed your face with hot water. The change in temperature will boost circulation beneath the skin. When you’re done, put on toner and moisturiser and then you’re done! All these steps will help to calm your breakout so you should definitely try it. Try it in the evening before you go to bed as the steam will make your face red and you don’t want to go out with a red face!
