A Moroccan Bathing Tip!
I’m very privileged to have friends and family from across the globe, but one group of friends in particular are my friends who hail from the beautiful country that is Morocco! I’ve visited a hammam which is quite the experience but my friend gave me a great tip on how I can somewhat recreate the experience at home.
Fill up your bath tub with nothing but water and just soak up the steam and water for at least 20 minutes. I found this quite odd as my baths always have a bath milk, bath oil or creme but there’s some wisdom to it. After the 20 minutes, use the palm of your hand to rub your body in an ‘up and down’ motion as if you’re scrubbing it with a sponge or body glove. After a few seconds you should begin to notice dead skin just rolling off your body!
There’s a really good point to my friends tip as at a Moroccan hammam, you scrub with a body glove that’s only been dipped in warm water after sitting in the steam for almost half an hour.
I guess you could call this the double cleansing of bathing as you do this first to just rid of any dirt and sweat that’s accumulated over time and anything else you do afterwards further cleans the skin which’ll just leave your body super smooth and touchable!
