You’re probably looking at the above photo and thinking ‘what on earth is this mixture?’ but I can assure you that what is inside this little cupcake holder (yes, I couldn’t find anything smaller to hold it in!) is one of the most gentle, smoothing and softening face masks I’ve used.

Not too long ago, my skin went through a very sensitive phase where the thought of putting any scrub near my face made me panic but I just needed to use a scrub so what did I do? Out of nowhere while I was preparing a salad and grating a carrot, I took a handful of the grated carrot, mixed it with a teeny amount of honey and then added a splash of apple cider vinegar and used that to scrub with. Β My idea was to make something that’d soothe the sensitivity which is where the honey comes in but to also scrub the dead skin off ever so gently.

To use it, I’d advice you to get a towel across your shoulders and just smother the mixture quite generously all over the skin without getting anything near the eye area. Leave it on for about 30 minutes and when washing it off, do so in circular motions in order to gently exfoliate with the grated carrot.

Isn’t it funny how preparing lunch can spark the most random of inventions?
