Washing Your Hair With Conditioner

If you’ve got dry hair, curly hair or both then you need to pay attention to this and absorb the following like a sponge!

It’s often advised that those with curly or dry hair stay away from shampoo as much as possible and only shampoo once or twice a week as shampoo makes the hair more prone to frizz, breakage, dryness and split ends. But what’s a girl to do if she likes to keep her hair clean in between washes? The first thing to do is to not reach for the shampoo and use your hair conditioner exactly how you’d use your shampoo.

Conditioners unlike shampoos are more kinder and moisturising for the hair however, they do still have a cleaning ability which may not be as strong as a shampoo but it still gets the job done. It’s best to use a a basic, cheap conditioner to co-wash with. For me, it’s usually is any Alberto Balsam as they go for about £1.

This video explains the concept of washing with conditioner pretty well.

  1. Hi I love your blog, I just found it through the Marie Claire website, I have really curly thick hair and I always have trouble managing my hair, I had never heard of co washing before, but I think i might give it a go this week.

Thank you so much! Your hair will love co-washing if you’ve got thick, curly hair; I reckon it works best on your type of hair :)

  2. Sarah co-washing is great, I hadn’t heard of it till a couple of months ago but what a difference. My scalp was constantly itchy and sore and it’s helped. Happy to see the message on a platform like this. Thanks Hafsa
