I think it might be something to do with being born in the bitter winter but I just love the season; hot drinks, boots, fur and thick, wooly scarves just get me excited but there’s nothing more exciting than the dark, vampy make-up that’s a staple in every beauty junkie’s make-up bag during these chilly times!
Thick, heavy foundation isn’t ideal during the winter as it’ll highlight flakiness and dry skin which is very common due to the harsh weather, and that’s where tinted moisturisers come in; minimal but effective coverage. The tinted moisturiser has SPF30 however, we still need sun protection regardless of the cold weather; the sun might be taking a break from getting us all warm but it’s still going to be emitting those cancerous rays so protect yourself!
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Choco-Licious, Black Cherry and Va Va Violet*
I like my lipsticks to be moisturising and these certainly are which is exactly what my lips will need. The LiquiSilk™ formula with mega-moisturizers keeps your lips moisturised, hydrated and protected against the harsh winter wind and elements.
Becca Creme Blush in Dahlia*
Creme blushes are the best thing for dry skin as they’re a lot more forgiving than powder blush which just highlights flakiness so Becca blushes are perfect. Dahlia is a beautiful brick red/burnt orange colour which can also double up as a lip colour if you just dab it over your lips with your fingers.
I’m not really one for eyeshadow, I avoid it as much as possible because my application skills are a joke but Mykonos is a cream eyeshadow that you just simply apply all over the lids, and because of its unique colour (taupe/mauve with shimmer) you wouldn’t want to wear it with any other eye shadow.
If you’ve tried a NARS lip gloss, you’ll know how sticky, gloopy and smelly they are but the Larger Than Life lip glosses are completely different and they also come in the best colours including Rouge Tribal which is part of the Fall 2012 collection. It’s such a beautiful colour, a burgundy, rubyish jewel toned lip gloss with small sparkles that add dimension when applied.
Face Stockholm Gel Eyeliner in Port*
Black eyeliner is a must have however everyone and their pet dog wears it so Port which is a very dark purple which almost verges on being black is perfect if you’re looking for something a little different. Using an eyeliner brush you can create a small flick at the upper lash line but going from day to night is as simple as using your finger to quickly dip into the glass container and working upwards to apply over the lids towards the brows to create a smokey eye.
The eyeliner is also waterproof and smudgeproof which is good news to every Londoner; your eyeliner won’t get ruined if you get caught in any unexpected rain. Yay!
