Beauty Experiences | Custom Blended Foundation at Cosmetics à La Carte
On the glamourous Motcomb Street in Belgravia, sharing the same road space as the Errol Douglas Salon and Christian Louboutin is one of London’s best kept beauty secrets Cosmetics à La Cart, a small but very cosy and chic beauty boutique boasting a celebrity clientele with the likes of Kate Moss, Lady Gaga and even the late Princess Diana who had a bespoke nude lipstick made just for her.
I recently visited the boutique for a lovely breakfast and bespoke foundation experience* with the team who are so lovely and incredibly passionate about Cosmetics à La Cart which is a completely independent British brand. With most beauty brands owned by two particular big companies it’s refreshing to see an independent brand that create the products they sell. To add to their fabulouslessness, they even mix and blend their makeup at a lab in nearby Battersea, who else can say that? Cosmetics à La Cart will even formulate a beloved discontinued lipstick or lip gloss for you. We’ve all experienced the pain of finding the perfect red lipstick for it to be discontinued just as quickly as you discovered it, so Cosmetics à La Cart have that covered.
Moving on to the experience, I was asked about my usual makeup routine, the makeup I tend to wear and my preferences about whether I go for matte, sheer or dewy foundation and from there my makeup artist was picking out colours to blend together. There’s an array of foundations at the boutique from incredibly dark to pale alabaster-like white with the odd red or yellow bottle to add some depth to the foundations. We went with a dark yellow toned foundation and I’m glad to report back that it suits my skin perfectly. I always go for the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Macao but my bespoke foundation is a real contender so Sheer Glow better watch out!
