Parfum Du Jour | Leilani Bishop Pikake
I truly believe that fragrance enhances and heightens our experiences, and with us being in the midst of summer I’ve been going for fragrances that really complement the warm weather, laughter, time spent out with the family, drinks and good food; things that just don’t really happen during the cold and gloomy winter. That’s why I’m completely besotted with Pikake by Leilani Bishop. Pikake is one of three fragrance oils created by the former fashion model. The fragrances are inspired by Leilani’s travels across the globe and childhood in Hawaii and she explains the reason she created Pikake beautifully over on her blog.
Leilani says that Pikake is ‘noted as the Hawaiian jasmine, the intoxicating scent of this tiny white blossom is sweet and musky, laced with the fragrance of the Islands. Labeled the ‘Flower of Love’ by a Hawaiian princess, the Pikake is a true part of Hawaii’s heritage and evokes in me the spirit of Aloha’. Jasmine is known to have quite a sensual scent, but there isn’t really anything too intoxicating about Pikake. Jasmine can also sometimes be dirty and indolic, however Pikake is feminine without being too sweet and girly. It’s feminine with all the right hints of the typical depth that jasmine gives.
As it’s an oil, it’s best to apply Pikake on your pulse points like behind the ears, wrists and even the backs of your knees. Heat from the pulse points will help to diffuse and intensify the fragrance, and while it may not be as strong as an alcohol-based perfume I actually love it. I see fragrance as a personal pleasure, I make sure that absolutely no one else can smell what I’m wearing so if you’re like me then solid fragrances and oils are the way to go. Nobody’ll know, but at least you do and that’s what’s matters the most!
Pikake‘s like the soundtrack to my summer, only a scent-track (totally making up words here..) for the nose! You can find Pikake and all other Leilani Bishop fragrances at the wonderful BeautyMART, the only place in the entire UK where it’s available.
