I’ve been loving olive oil lately and it works absolute wonders on the hair but what about olive butter? Olive butter is a wonderful butter to use on the hair as it’s super moisturising which is perfect for hair that’s been damaged from heat. It’s great for curly hair too which is prone to dryness than any other hair type. Olive butter‘s moisturising as it is but add honey to the mix which is a humectant which means it draws in moisture to your hair.

To use this, I’d recommend slathering it all over dry hair and leaving it in for 30 minutes or longer. The deep treatment has the same consistency as a hair cream so it may feel weird in the beginning but it’ll work! Once you’re done leaving the treatment in your hair, just shampoo and do whatever else you usually do when washing your hair. Another way I use this is mixing it with my hair conditioner and just rising it out rather than washing it.

YOU’LL NEED

1/4 cup of olive butter

2 large tablespoons of honey

DIRECTIONS

Using an electric whisk, mix together the olive butter and honey.

Once you’ve achieved a fluffy and well blended mixture, the mask is now ready to use.

I can’t even begin to explain how nourishing, hydrating and wonderful this treatment this is! Avocado is a super ingredient for your hair that I just can never get enough of be it in the form of avocado oil, butter or an actual avocado, take advantage ladies. You’ll be onto a winner if you do!

This mask is best used before shampooing as it’s quite oily and shampoo will thoroughly remove all the oil and butter but, will still leave your hair unbelievably soft. Out of the butters I’ve tried, avocado butter is definitely the one that my hair likes the most and I know your hair will love it too. Like always, a dollop of honey helps to attract much needed moisture to your locks as it’s a humectant. When looking for products for dry hair, humectants like honey and glycerin (vegetable glycerin for all you Muslimahs, vegans and vegetarians out there) are what to look for in the ingredients.

Many of you ladies ask where I get these oils and butters from, Sheabutter Cottage is an amazing online shop where you get your hands on raw shea butter, argan oil and my beloved Bentonite clay. I believe they ship worldwide so you international Mixstresses can join in on the fun too!

INGREDIENTS

4 tablespoons of avocado butter

2 tablespoons of avocado oil (substitute for any other oil)

1 spoon of honey

DIRECTIONS

Avocado butter is quite fluffy and easy to work with, so there’s no need to melt it down. Instead, just pour your oil and honey into the butter and whisk them into each other with an electric whisk until they’re fully mixed together.

Apply the butter to dry hair and leave in for at least 1 hour to ensure your hair gets the most out of the butter. For me, the longer the better so I find a day where I’m least busiest and leave the mask in for a minimum of 3 hours!
