A while ago when I wrote a guest post on Amitee’s I said that they’d be seen launching a monthly beauty box and today that day has come! I just recived it in the post and I’m so in love with the box. Lately, I’ve not been liking the other boxes I’ve been receiving hence why I’ve not been writing about them but it’s like love at first sight with the Pamper Secrets box!
THINGS I LOVE ABOUT THE BOX
- The purple and white packaging – purple is my favourite colour after all!
- Six decent sized samples; in comparison to other boxes, the samples in Pamper Secrets are quite large whereas with other boxes there’s been complaints about perfume and skincare samples in the box that they’ve received for free at beauty counters.
- There’s a profile you need to fill out when registering for the box so that they can get a good idea of what products will suit you best and they’ve really listened to me. By sending me hair and skin products that fit my specific needs, they’ve made sure that products that aren’t going to be of use to the customer won’t be sent to them.
- It’s a great box for women of colour. Looking at the list of products I could have received, it seems that Amitee have hair products for all hair types be it relaxed, natural, curly, straight or wavy.
PRODUCTS IN LEFT TO RIGHT ORDER
MURAD SKIN PERFECTING PRIMER ACNE AND SHINE CONTROL
I already have a Murad primer but it’s for creating dewy skin and I absolutely love that primer but, this is the one product that makes me think that Amitee took my beauty profile into action by giving me this knowing that I have acne. The primer promises to ‘mask imperfections while reducing and preventing breakouts’ and it’s true as there’s 0.5% salicylic acid which is great for acne. I’ve never in my life come across a primer with saliclyic acid or any other acne beating ingredients so I’m so excited to try this and see how it works on my skin.
ELEMIS SP@ HOME QUIET MIND RELAXING BATH ELIXIR
Elemis is a great brand for the whole ‘spa at home’ kinda thing. This elixir contains patchouli, ho wood, eucalyptus and cocoa butter to soothe the body and induce ‘a sense of peace and serenity’. With university exams around the corner, I’ll definitely be reaching to this to help me unwind and de-stress!
PAUL MITCHELL SOFT STYLE FOAMING POMMADE TEXTURE POLISH
I’ve been coming across Paul Mitchell products in goody bags and beauty boxes and it’s not a brand that I would’ve used otherwise but, I’m starting to really like them especially the Paul Mitchell’s Liquid Curl Definer. The Foaming Pomade is a finishing product to help ‘create smooth, polished finishes on all hair types’ and it smells divine like watermelon and I’ll be trying it out very soon; I can imagine using it to create a smooth bun hair style.
ELEMIS MELTING CLEANSING GEL
This cleanser is ‘for challenged, dull or stressed skin’ and my skin is exactly that! I don’t know what’s going on with my skin lately, I’ve been breaking out severely on my chin yet my skin is parched and incredibly dry. I just cleansed with this and it’s a really nice, smooth consistency. I wouldn’t say that it’s a gel, it’s more like a balm. Ingredients include argan oil, rice silk, rosemary leaf and moringa peptides. It has a subtle smell of oranges which is because of the orange peel oil in the cleanser. The way to use the cleanser is to massage it into the skin with wet finger tips and you’ll see the gel turn into a milk. My skin was left clean but still a little moisturised.
KERACARE HAIR MILK
I’ve never used a hair milk before, I’ve heard of Carol’s Daughter (an American brand) having a hair milk but I’ve just never been interested in using a hair milk but now that I have one, I may as well try it out and not knock it until I’ve tried it! The hair milk apparently ‘protects the elasticity, strength and health of natural hair’ with amla, shikakai argan, Abyssinian soybean oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, jojoba and almond oils to ‘rejuvenate dry, frizzy, lifeless curls’. Sounds exactly like what I need right now!
BETTY HULA RUM & BLACKCURRANT SHEA BUTTER MOISTURISING CREAM
I’ve heard a few great things about Betty Hula products so I’m quite happy to try this cream which is apparently a firm favourite. The scent is inspired by the pacific island and will leave my skin ‘feeling sweet and smooth’ . I don’t mind the scent but I can imagine it annoying me after a while as it’s quite sweet.
