DHC Deep Cleansing Oil

20120914 134647 DHC Deep Cleansing Oil

When cleansing, it’s either an oil or a cleansing balm that I’ll use to remove my make-up and although I prefer balms, oils are perfect for lazy nights as all I have to do is just quickly work the oil into the skin and wash it off turning it into a milky substance leaving my skin without any oily residue. I’ve tried my fair share of cleansing oils but none have got the job done quite like DHC’s Deep Cleansing Oil* which is one of the latest Japanese beauty imports.

The Deep Cleansing Oil is an oil blend of vitamin E, olive oil among some other things and unlike other cleansing oils, DHC’s is a fuss-free oil with no bells and whistles which gets the job done in seconds. It’s incredibly easy to use but although I like it, its simplicity is also what I dislike about the cleansing oil; it’s just so boring! Maybe it’s because I’m used to products with the latest scientific ingredient proven to anti-age so much you’ll resemble a newborn or whatever but it’s incredibly boring but it works so who am I to complain? Also, it doubles up as a great brush cleaner. When I clean them with a shampoo, I often have to clean them 2-3 times until they’re thoroughly cleaned but the Deep Cleansing Oil gets them clean just once!

Boring, fuss-free, super cleansing oil anyone?

I’ve used this, I still have a little left. While I like it for cleaning the face scrupulously, I did find that my skin broke out in a few bumps after a couple of weeks of using it. Perhaps I didn’t rinse properly, as I found when I really rinsed, it didn’t happen so much. So perhaps that the key to this – RINSE THOROUGHLY!

I like the idea of using it to clean the brushes, though, perhaps I’ll use up the remnants for that weekly task! :)

Come to think about it, my skin is actually breaking out right now and I had a few products in mind that were causing it but I never thought about the cleansing oil. Thanks for telling me Ambarina, I’m going to eliminate it from my skincare and see how that works!

aah, I really need to try a cleansing oil! I’ve heard a lot of good stuff about Shu Umera’s cleansing oil. Have you tried it? xo

The Shu Uemura oils are great, they’re of a thinner consistency than the DHC oil and there’s more variety too!
