Weekend Reads | Thank God I Discovered Shea Butter
It’s no secret that I’m in absolute love with shea butter. I fell in love with it when I bought a tub of the pure, raw and unrefined stuff and I’ve been a lover of shea butter since. I’ll either buy mine from a market in Dalston, east London or Sheabutter Cottage where the shea butter producers are given a fair wage for their labour. I have a million and one uses for shea butter including melting a little to add to conditioner for a deep conditioning treatment, dabbing it gently around the eyes as an eye cream, flyaway and frizz tamer, lip balm and hand cream. I just love the stuff!
Shea butter is just the thing for dry hair. It’s an intensively moisturising butter, so if you have dry hair using products containing shea butter will make a huge difference.
This has to be my absolute favourite drugstore body scrub, it’s so smoothing, exfoliating and insanely moisturising. After you use this, you step out of the shower with skin that doesn’t need to be moisturised for years thanks to the shea butter in the scrub.
This is a hydrating treat for your eyes, the cream sinks into the skin perfectly making the area ready for makeup. It’s also managed to work on the puffiness that’s made its appearance to far too many late nights and early mornings.
I usually fall in love with a product and then toss it to the side after a while for it to be rediscovered in time but I’ve yet to do that with the Clinique Chubby Sticks*. As well as having some serious colour, they’re packed with shea butter so are super hydrating and I never need a lip balm when I have a Chubby Stick in my handbag. I have Two Ton Tomato and Voluptuous Violet which is a sheer purple that’ll suit just about everyone!
Unless specified always assume that the shea butter in your favourite products are refined. I go forsha butter that’s completely unrefined as it’s in its totally natural form but it may be a little confusing to you to differentiate between raw shea butter and the shea butter that’s in other products, and this post clears it all up for you.
Shea butter has a gazillion benefits for your hair which I just can’t be bothered to list!
