Masking It

the best face masks

We all have skin concerns and if you don’t then I’d like you to know just how much I hate you. I get a lot of questions about which face masks to use depending on their skin type and my answer is usually based on how your skin feels at a particular time. I’m always talking to skincare experts, facialists and dermatologists and they usually recommend tailoring your treatments around your particular skin needs now rather than generalising on your skin type. You may have oily skin, but if it’s feeling parched right now because of the winter weather, go for something rich and moisturising and something to treat your oily skin when it feels oily. Makes perfect sense!

What I use when my skin is feeling…

…Congested

SkinCeuticals Clarifying Clay Masque* – This mask is a combination of earth clays and a hydroxy acid blend to clarify, purge and thoroughly cleanse the pores of all the nasty stuff that cause those pesky zits we love to hate.

…Dehydrated

Elemental Herbology Facial Soufflé Overnight Creme – A generous slathering of the Facial Soufflé left overnight will completely transform the feel of your skin. I was introduced to the brand after a facial with Perfect 10 Beauty and I’ve been obsessed with the face mask since.

…Dull

Alpha-H Liquid Gold Smoothing and Perfecting Mask – AHA’s are sure-fire skin brighteners so if your skin’s dull and far from glowing reach for something with glycolic and/or lactic acids and the 15% glycolic acid in this mask makes it an ideal exfoliator which’ll then leave the skin smoother and brighter. I love the Alpha-H Liquid Gold line, but this mask is probably the star.
