Night Shift Workers

Night Shift Workers

There’s only 24 hours in a day and while I could easily spend those hours primping and preening myself, I’m far too busy running around, juggling work and university with blogging in the evening so I rely on a few trusty products to do a night shift and beautify me while I’m asleep, the only time I ever seem to be free!

It all starts with a thorough double cleanse and tone in the shower and straight afterwards I make sure to slather the Balance Me’s Rose Otto Body Balm, an intensively moisturising treat for your body and senses too with the gorgeous smell of the rare rose otto. I’m not even joking when I say you’ll wake up with baby smooth skin and you can thank the blend of shea butter, jojoba and sweet almond oils for that when you can stop stroking your incredibly smooth arms in the morning!

Now onto skincare, I either reach for a serum to deal with my breakout prone skin or a facial oil and lately I’ve been using the Tropic Organic Elixir Oil*, a luxurious oil with moringa, kiwi seed, rosehip, pomegranate seed and jojoba oils. It has not one, two, three or four antioxidants but 1,700! If I have the time, I’ll fit in a few minutes of facial massage with the Elixir Oil and I always wake up with glowing skin no matter what.

A typical day in the life of Hafsa is typing, tweeting, texting, washing my hands with boiling hot water (I’m a germaphobe), writing, washing the dishes and getting scratched up by my cat. My poor hands! Gwdihw‘s (repeat after me… goody hoo!) Busy Hands*, a hand balm which comes in the cutest packaging containing marigold flowers, rosemary and coconut takes care of my dry and neglected hands through the evening, although I think it’ll take more than eight hours to get my hands looking like that of a hand model!

The finishing touches are a generous slathering of the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Intensive Lip Repair Balm which I’m completely obsessed with. I don’t know how my lips coped before I started using it! And another Elizabeth Arden product I’m head over heels with is their new Prevage Clinical Lash & Brow Enhancing Serum*. Can I just say that my eyelashes have become ridiculously long since I started using it a month ago? I actually noticed a difference two weeks into using the serum which involves just quickly swishing a it along your lash line every night. It was developed through close work with ophthalmologists so it’s completely safe for your eyes. Also, during research there was a 40% improvement in 6 weeks so I’ll be using this again, and again and again. I’m leaving the castor oil well alone…

Right before I snooze off, I usually either read a book, now it’s Leila Aboulela’s Lyrics Alley or a magazine like Elle or Glamour and I’ll probably fall asleep with the magazine still wide open which is funny to wake up to. But I also wake up to significantly softer hands, smooth and bright skin, flake free lips and super long lashes :D
