Weekend Reads | Beautiful People

beauty industry peopleNo matter how much I know, I take pleasure in listening to people and taking in everything they have to share – their experiences, stories, knowledge and advice. A compilation of interviews with some of my favourite people:

Bassam Fattouh Interview – If you’re a beauty obsessive living in the Middle East or love music artists like Elissa, Najwa Karam and Haifa Wehbe, you’d know all about Lebanese makeup artist to the stars Bassam Fattouh. I talked with Bassam about his career, what’s in his beauty kit, advice for aspiring makeup artists and his cosmetics line, Bassam Fattouh Cosmetics available across the Middle East.

The Beauty Business | Natalie Clue – The Marketing Consultant – I love when a blogger is also in the industry they write about as they provide such a unique voice and really know what they’re talking about, so that’s why I love Beauty Pulse London. Its founder Natalie Clue is my mentor and a very good friend of mine, I just love listening to her words of wisdom each time we meet! She works as a marketing consultant to beauty brands and is also the founder of Keziah Connections, an organisation facilitating the empowerment of women of colour in the beauty industry.

Interview with Celebrity Hair Stylist Errol DouglasErrol Douglas is one of the most interesting people I’ve ever met. We talked in his salon, Errol Douglas where he shared his inspiring story about wanting to open up a salon in Knightsbridge as a young teen, and he did!

Beautiful Movements by Kimberly Wyatt – I recently got the chance to talk to former Pussycat Doll, Kimberly Wyatt about her new mineral makeup line Beautiful Movements, which you can find at Holland & Barrett.

Jet Set Beauty Reem & Natalya Kanj – One of my favourite blogs of all time is Five Five Fabulous, run by sisters Reem and Natalya Kanj. Based between London and Dubai, I spoke to them about their favourite beauty trends from London and Paris Fashion Weeks and the one product they must use on-flight.

Jemma Kidd Interview – I always trust a makeup brand founded by a makeup artist because all of that experience from working with various skin tones, textures and features is sure to create a brand that reflects the expertise so that’s why I liked Jemma Kidd’s cosmetic line which is now sadly no longer around.

Talking on the Phone to Mary Greenwell – It’s not everyday you get to talk to a celebrity makeup artist, but I recently had a lovely talk with Mary Greenwell, makeup artist to Uma Thurman, Jessica Chastain and the late Princess Diana on the phone. Millie Kendall, co-founder of BeautyMART told me that she’s a great person to talk to and she couldn’t be more right – she’s the best person I’ve ever interviewed!

Zarra Celik – Celebrity Nail Technician – Let me just say that your monthly manicure is one thing, but it’s another thing to get your nails did by a celebrity nail technician. Cuticles are non-existent, nails are perfectly shaped and painted impeccably without a single drop of nail polish on your fingers! Last year I met Max Factor’s nail ambassador and nail technician to the stars Zarra Celik. We talked as she did my nails and considering her clients include Yasmin Le Bon, Jessie J and more she’s incredibly down to earth, hilarious and fun to be around.

Iman, Part 2 Iman has been an inspiration of mine since I was a very young girl. Her work in the fashion industry and now as the founder of Iman Cosmetics deserves nothing short of respect so I love this interview on Into The Gloss.

A Chat with the Founder of HourglassHourglass is just one of those brands where I’d have to pinch myself too if I were in the founders presence just like Anna of Vivianna Does Makeup!
