Clinique Turnaround Range

Clinique Turnaround Range

I’ll never forget the day a friend introduced me to the world that is peach kernel face scrubs. We were curious teens, and I think she went through her mums beauty stash when she brought out the infamous and very much loved St Ives Apricot Invigorating Scrub. We ran to the bathroom to try out this creamy, sweet smelling and oddly textured product out and I was hooked from the minute I washed it off to reveal this softer, brighter skin!

My taste has developed since then, and my acne-prone skin would break out at the thought of me using a face scrub, they’re just too harsh for my skin now. But my skin seems to love another kind of exfoliation – AHA’s and BHA’s.  I’ve previously talked about my love for glycolic, lactic and salicylic acids, but I’m always on the look out for some more acid laced skin miracles and in my search I discovered both the Clinique Turnaround Concentrate Radiance Renewer* and Turnaround Overnight Radiance Moisturiser*. I paired the two products together every evening and here are my thoughts:

Radiance Renewer – The serum is lightweight and Clinique claim the Radiance Renewer will make the skin smoother, luminous and more radiant. I didn’t like the the consistency of this serum at all, it was quite gloopy and sticky. It also left my skin feeling filmy. I did notice my skin feeling smooth after using it for a while but not a significant enough difference.

Overnight Radiance Moisturiser – The moisturiser does the same job as the serum, but it also moisturises and hydrates. I really liked this, it’s thick enough to keep my skin moisturised during cold and dry weather but it also does the job of exfoliating ever so slightly. The Overnight Radiance Moisturiser contains salicylic acid which is great for acne-prone skin but this didn’t wow me enough to continue using it.

According to Clinique’s guiding dermatologist, Dr David Orentreich ‘daily exfoliation improves the surface appearance and function of the skin. Studies show that exfoliation increases epidermal turnover rate, resulting in a clearer, smoother, more even-toned skin which has greater translucency, than skin which is not exfoliated on a regular basis’. I couldn’t agree more, but if you’re looking for effective daily exfoliation I wouldn’t look for it in the Clinique Turnaround Range as it didn’t exfoliate well enough for me.
